'Burqa clad' man taken as braid chopper thrashed | KNO

Residents of Awantipora on Thursday claimed to have caught a burqa clad person at Awantipora and suspected him of being a braid chopper. The locals alleged that the police resorted to teargas shelling on locals and took the 'braid chopper away. Police however said that he was being ruthlessly beaten by the people. “Soon as we heard about the incident a police party reached the spot and took the person in custody who was being ruthlessly beaten by people,” a police official said. He added that the person is a resident of Noorpora Tral area and he is being questioned. Locals alleged that police fired tear smoke shells on people and left with the “braid chopper.” However the police official said that they only restored traffic on the highway.
